What do I need to purchase an online ticket?

To book an online ticket, access to the internet, an accepted form of ID and payment as well as Adobe Reader® to open your online ticket as a printable PDF. Online tickets are not transferrable, they are only valid in the hands of the passenger specified (plus possible accompanying passengers) in conjunction with proof of booking identification.

 

 

What kind of ID cards will be accepted by ticket inspection ?

During ticket inspection, the train attendant will scan the barcode and compare the details on the device display with the name on your ID document.

The following means of identification are accepted during ticket inspection:

• German ID card
• German passport
• Children's passport
• Electronic residence permit
• Asylum registration confirmation (BüMA),
• European ID card
• International passport
• BahnCard (in accordance with the Conditions of Carriage, valid only in conjunction with a photo ID, which may have to be presented on occasion).

Note: driver's licenses are not accepted as a means of identification during ticket inspection.

Is there a minimum age for the purchase of online tickets?

On dbregio-shop.de a minimum age of 18 applies.

Do I need to register to purchase my ticket?

No, you can purchase tickets online, even without registration. In this case, only data necessary for booking the immediate ticket is collected from you. The advantage of registration is that your data is saved for future purchases. Here you can buy online tickets with and without registration.

Is it possible to buy an online ticket for another person?

Yes. If you would like to book an online ticket for a friend or family member, enter the personal data of the passenger. Payment data remains your own.

Which payment methods are accepted?

Direct debit and credit card (Visa and MasterCard) are currently the only forms of acceptable payment. Please note that direct debit is only allowed for registered users.

How do I get my online ticket after booking?

The ticket is available in pdf format for download. The link to download your ticket will be displayed after completing the booking process and also sent via e -mail. Please print out the online ticket for control on the train. Please make sure when printing your ticket that the images are not suppressed, otherwise it may invalid.

Is my ticket valid if I display it on my smartphone?

No, tickets purchased through dbregio-shop.de are only valid in paper form.

Can I see my booked tickets and change my personal data?

If you are registered and logged into dbregio-shop.de, you can view all the entries under "My Orders". Under "Personal Data" you can always add to or change your user information.

Who is eligible to purchase the German Rail Pass?

The German Rail Pass offer only applies to people with permanent residence outside Europe, Turkey and the Russian Federation. If you are European, to be eligible you must have been residing outside of Europe for a minimum of 6 months (the stamp in your passport is decisive).

 

 

Which GRP types can be purchased online?

  • -Adult
  • -Twin (2 persons travelling together)
  • -Youth (young people between 16 and 25 years of age)

Is there a minimum age to purchase a GRP online?

Yes, 18 years of age

Any 3, 4, 5, 10 or 15 day pass (consecutive)

Where is the GRP valid?

All rail connections in Germany as well the stations of Basel Bad Bf (Switzerland) and Salzburg (Austria). Travel on all trains operated by DB, high-speed service (ICE) included.

If your GRP includes a GRP Extension pass, it entitles you to travel on the following routes outside of Germany:

  • - on ICE International trains to Liège and Brussels
  • - on DB IC Buses to Strasbourg, Prague, Kraków, Antwerp, Brussels, Zagreb, Luxembourg and Copenhagen (for all IC Bus services a reservation is mandatory)
  • - on DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains to Kufstein, Innsbruck, Bolzano/Bozen, Trento, Verona, Bologna and Venice.

Which documents do I need to keep with me while travelling?

The German Rail Pass is a strictly personal and non-transferable document. You must always be able to present the relevant identification document (credit card), that you stated at the time of purchase, even if it has expired, and your passport, alongside your GRP in order for it to be valid.

How are my credit card details protected?

To protect the card holder from abuse is the " 3D Secure procedures " ( Verified by Visa / MasterCard ® SecureCode ™ ) application , provided that the card issuing institution supports 3D Secure procedures . If this is the case, the customer is automatically redirected to the website of their bank. For Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode activated customers will be greeted with their self-defined personal greeting and asked to confirm the payment amount with the personal PIN on the website of the card. For non-activated customers, a one-time notification to the card-issuing bank is necessary . For questions regarding 3D Secure procedures, please contact the card-issuing bank.

How do I refund or exchange my GRP?

You cannot. There is no exchange or refund on any German Rail Pass.
